I checked the Eastern Bluebird Nestbox yesterday AM, and there were little baby bluebirds in the nest! I’ll check them out today, to be sure it’s four, or another number. I didn’t delve deeply into the nest yesterday.
They are just so cute though. Little tiny bodies and heads with fluff all over, but fairly naked looking. All jumbled up together. The thing to look forward to is opening the box and seeing them all start peeping and all the yellow mouths up in the air waiting for food from Mama Bluebird. Hungry Baby Birds, something all baby birds have in common, regardless of breeding. 🙂
UPDATE [10:34am]: I just checked the box with Victoria, and there are four (4) babies in the nest. Cute little things, Victoria was very impressed with them. She’s seen such things before, but she is 5 now, and that means more to her this year when seeing live animals and their babies. 🙂
UPDATE [06-16-2004 2:06pm]: I have the photos uploaded now. See the thumbnail on the right, click to view the post individually and there you will see the whole post with several thumbnails. Click each to see a larger image. This is a new plugin I’m using called “Exibit” for WP. There is some other functionallity I’d like it to have. I still have to play with config stuff to make Exibit do what I’d prefer. So the functionality may change at any time, but the photos will remain in this post.
These photos are from June 2, 2004, four baby Eastern Blue Birds in their nestbox, just a few days old.
